Comparison of Rubber Asphalt with Polymer Asphalt under Long-Term Aging Conditions in Michigan

The objective of this study is to compare the long-term aging performance dry-processed rubber-modified asphalt mixture with styrene–butadiene–styrene polymer-modified on heavy traffic volume roads in wet-freeze environment Michigan. rutting was evaluated using Hamburg wheel track device. disc-shaped compact tension test used assess fracture energy. dynamic modulus experiment estimate load and displacement relationship. binder properties were multiple stress creep recovery linear amplitude sweep test. pavement distresses mechanistic–empirical design. All three types show excellent resistance after conditions, while energy rubber mix 17.1% 30.5% higher than that control 6.8% 9.1% polymer mix. incorporated improved permanent deformation fatigue life binder.
